Deadline day live club-by-club guide: As it happened (2024)

The biggest day of the year in the world of transfers is here again, so stick with TEAMtalk to keep up to date on deadline day.

Clubs have been busy spending money all summer but this is their last chance, with the window remaining open until 11pm BST. And there are still plenty of high-profile players who could be on the move.

Follow along on TEAMtalk with our handy live updates, separated by specific clubs, of what business is still in the pipeline.

ARSENAL

TOP STORY:Arsenal have completed the loan signing of Raheem Sterling from London rivals Chelsea.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have also finalised the signing of Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal on a five-year deal. The once-capped England striker has cost an initial £25m fee and will wear the coveted No 9 shirt at Selhurst Park.

Winger Reiss Nelson’s late move to Ipswich fell through late on in the day and it emerged minutes later that the winger has instead joined Fulham, as TEAMtalk exclusively revealed earlier this week.

Aaron Ramsdale has officially been sold by Arsenal, joining Southampton in a move that paved the way for Neto to arrive from Bournemouth after they backed down from their pursuit of Joan Garcia.

ASTON VILLA

TEAMtalk sources have confirmed that forgotten midfielder Leander Dendoncker is in talks to return to his former club Anderlecht from Aston Villa, but Las Palmas are in the hunt too.

Another midfielder, new recruit Enzo Barrenechea, has now completed his loan move to Valencia.

BOURNEMOUTH

Bournemouth have sent Neto on loan to Arsenal, while they have loaned Daniel Jebbison to Watford and have agreed a similar deal to send Chris Mepham to Sunderland.

BRENTFORD

TOP STORY:Brentford striker Ivan Toney has left the Gtech Community Stadium, agreeing a mega-money deal for Al-Ahli for a fee of around £40million.

The deal will also end the Saudi Pro League side’s ambitions of signing Chelsea target Victor Osimhen, who now looks set to stay at Napoli.

In terms of incomings, Brentford have been linked with Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell and in the same position have agreed to sign Southampton’s teenagerJayden Meghoma for about £10m.

On the way out, Frank Onyeka is being linked with a loan move to Augsburg and Myles Peart-Harris has been loaned to Swansea.

BRIGHTON

TOP STORY:Billy Gilmour’s proposed move to Napoli has now been agreed, with the Scotland midfielder moving for a fee of £11m and joining up with his international teammate, Scott McTominay, who has also moved to the Italian side on deadline day.

Meanwhile, Brighton have submitted a bid for Nordsjaelland striker Conrad Harder, worth €20m.

Brighton signed off on a deal to send Mo Dahoud to Eintracht Frankfurt, andAmario Cozier-Duberry is joining Blackburn on loan.

CHELSEA

TOP STORY:Jadon Sancho now has an agreement to join Chelsea, with the move set togo through before the window closes and with personal terms agreed on a season’s loan with an obligation to buy next summer for a fee reported to be £23m. They will pay a sizeable loan fee to Manchester United, though.

Arsenal announced the signing of Raheem Sterling with the unwanted Blues winger making a big salary sacrifice to move across London to Emirates Stadium. The deal will be on an initial loan.

Chelsea, meanwhile, missed out on Victor Osimhen despite submitting a loan offer with an obligation to buy. The Napoli striker has been their top striker target all summer. However, the Blues failed to reach an agreement despite the striker making clear his wish to make the move.

Chelsea have loaned Djordje Petrovic to sister club Strasbourg though the planned move of Deivid Washington to them for £17.6m appears to have collapsed.

Everton successfully signed Armando Broja from Chelsea on an initial season-long loan with a view to a £30m deal next summer.

CRYSTAL PALACE

TOP STORY:Big news for Crystal Palace! Oliver Glasner has confirmed Marc Guehi is STAYING at the club.

Nevertheless, a deal has been agreed for Crystal Palace to sign Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix for €21m and they are still considering a move to take Trevoh Chalobah on loan from Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Palace have announced at 10am the sale of Sam Johnstone to Wolves, and later signed Matt Turner on loan from Nottingham Forest as his replacement.

EVERTON

Everton completed the signing of Orel Mangala from Lyon and Armando Broja on loan from Chelsea with a view to a permanent move next summer.

The Toffees also confirmed at 10am that striker Neal Maupay has moved to Marseille on loan with an obligation for a permanent move in 2025.

Everton defender Mason Holgate has returned to former club West Brom on loan, after initially being targeted by Sheffield Wednesday.

FULHAM

Fulham have managed to bring in winger Reiss Nelson from Arsenal – as we exclusively revealed was a strong possibility earlier this week.

The Cottagers have also agreed to sell Jay Stansfield to Birmingham for a staggering £12m – quite easily the biggest fee ever spent by a League One side.

Fulham allowed Kevin Mbabu to complete a move to Midtjylland, although they will retain a 50 per cent sell-on clause.

IPSWICH TOWN

The Tractor Boys were working on a late deal to sign Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, though the move collapsed late on with it later emerging the winger was off instead to Fulham.

Ipswich have also missed out on the signing of Armando Broja from Chelsea, with the forward agreeing a move to Everton on loan with an option to make a permanent £30m deal next summer.

LEICESTER CITY

The Foxes welcomed a new striker on deadline day with a deal agreed to bring in Odsonne Edouard from Crystal Palace on a season’s loan to compete with theeffervescent Jamie Vardy.

Meanwhile, Steve Cooper and Co sent young striker Tom Cannon to Stoke City.

LIVERPOOL

Midfielder Stefan Bajcetic’s loan move to Pep Lijnders’ Red Bull Salzburg side has been confirmed, while one of Jurgen Klopp’s trusted back-ups, Nat Phillips, has sealed a move to the Championship with Derby County.

Liverpool will not be making a late move for Porto midfielder Alan Varela with the Reds sticking by their policy to not bring in a new addition to their engine room until 2025, it can be confirmed.The Argentine midfielder, a long-term target for the Reds, has also been offered a new deal by the Portuguese giants.

Liverpool have loaned out Ben Doak to Middlesbrough andKaide Gordon to Norwich City.

MANCHESTER CITY

Man City have agreed to send academy product Joel Ndala to PSV on loan with an obligation to buy.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed City won’t be in the market for a new backup striker, despite selling Julian Alvarez earlier this summer, so the Premier League champions may be done there in terms of signings.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Man Utd have confirmed the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain late on deadline day, the Uruguayan midfielder signing a deal until June 2029 with the option of an additonal year.

United have paid the French side an initial fee of £42.3m with a further £8.5m due in add-ons.

He is their second capture of deadline day with 18-year-old midfield starlet Sekou Kone having also been confirmed.

However, the Ugarte deal has not been finalised in time for him to be eligible to make his debut against Liverpool this weekend.

The Red Devils have posted an emotional goodbye to Scott McTominay – the “red who lived his dream” – after the 27-year-old completed a move to Italy with Napoli. Antonio Conte’s side have paid a €30m (£25m) fee for the boyhood United supporter, who leaves after making 255 appearances for the club.

In another big development, Jadon Sancho now has an agreement to join Chelsea, which you can read more about at the top of the Chelsea section above.

His move will now go through before the window closes with personal terms agreed on a season’s loan with an obligation to buy next summer for a mere £23m, though they will pay United a sizeable loan fee.

Meanwhile, reports are claiming that Antony and Christian Eriksen – two signings from Erik ten Hag’s first summer in charge of United, two years ago – are being targeted by Real Betis on loan, but Antony’s move has swiftly been ruled out, while the Danish midfielder’s wages are also seen as prohibitive.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

The Magpies did explore exploring a big-money move for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, though Forest closed the door on that one.

Newcastle’s deal to sign Marc Guehi is officially off after after Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed the England man was staying and praised the Eagles owners in the process.

Ryan Fraser, meanwhile, has had his contract terminated and has rejoined former club, Southampton, on a two-year deal.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

TOP STORY:Talks by Nottingham Forest to sign James Ward-Prowse from West Ham on loan have been fruitful and a deal has now been agreed between the two clubs and has narrowly beaten the 11pm deadline.

Forest have also signed Brazilian defender Morato for £15m from Benfica.

Forest have had a bid for Caoimhin Kelleher rejected by Liverpool, which would have sent Matt Turner to Anfield, but they have now sent the American to Crystal Palace on loan instead.

SOUTHAMPTON

Southampton have announced the signing of Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal at 12:45pm and managed to bring in Maxwel Cornet on loan from West Ham.

Saints, meanwhile, have confirmed the return of Ryan Fraser on a two-year deal after he was released by Newcastle.

18-year-old left-backJayden Meghoma is joining Brentford for about £10m.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Tottenham have agreed to sell Giovani Lo Celso back to his former club Real Betis, with the move just beating the deadline. Spurs have suffered a significant loss on the original £27.2m paid for the Argentine back in 2020.

As part of the arrangement for Lo Celso, Spurs are understood to have secured priority for a future deal to sign Johnny Cardoso from the Seville-based side.

One man who won’t be leaving on deadline day though is Sergio Reguilon after Spurs rejected a loan bid by Lille.

Spurs had looked to send Alfie Devine out on loan but there were no takers for the 20-year-old.

WEST HAM

TOP STORY:West Ham have agreed to sign Carlos Soler on loan from PSG, while James Ward-Prowse has been sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, Southampton have agreed to sign take Maxwel Cornet on loan and Nayef Aguerd has gone to Real Sociedad on the same formula.

As for other departures, Kurt Zouma is waiting to finalise his loan move to Al Arouba.

WOLVES

Wolves have confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Andre, from Fluminense, for a fee of £28.3m, and have also brought in Carlos Forbs from Ajax.

Earlier, Wolves announced the deadline-day signing of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace.

And Gary O’Neil has confirmed that Daniel Podence is moving to Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia.
